![]() My Cobra had plenty of range but his Viper could only manage about 1. I had to scout ahead for refuel- friendly stars when he got low. He'd plot the next few legs, and then tell me each system he was jumping to, starting with the distance in light years so I could easily find it in the Nav list on the lefthand panel. That system worked really great, though it would have been a lot simpler if he could have just transmitted the flight plan. Oh well, maybe when Wings are implemented! When we did get there, we used our D- scanners, flew around, and scanned everything. There weren't any inhabited systems out there to dock in and retire for the night, but then I Iooked in the system map and realized the system was a binary - - and the B star was a black hole with three brown dwarfs in orbit. ![]() We could only see the first star, and its own brown dwarfs and their moons. But we'd come so far, we decided to look for the black hole. The system map showed the black hole as unexplored and didn't give a distance, so we were kind of stumped art first. But then Lotus noticed the A star had a HUGE orbit line sticking out of it. Looking at the other end of the orbit, faaaar off in the distance, I saw three pink stars in a perfect line that looked too much like the lineup of brown dwarfs in the system map to be coincidence, so we flew out that way. A star, we could clearly see the three stars getting bigger, and our supercruise speed was dropping, which told us we were on the right track. We each chose a brown dwarf to investigate, and his turned out to be B2, mine was B1, and both had concentric orbits around.. Clearly the black hole had to be in there somewhere. We flew into the plane of B1's orbit, and tried to find the center of that circle, but it was very difficult to gauge. We could tell something was in there because we'd feel our supercruise speed drop for a bit, and then rise again. It was a lot like that game of .
